PASSOP has two interdependent structures. The first is the community based branch structures, and the second is the NGO side.
The branch structures are run by committes, who are elected from the much larger general membership. There are currently five well-established branch structures in various townships throughout Cape Town, and PASSOP plans to expand to other townships in the future, as needs arise. The committees help the many members in the township, and the NGO relies on the committe to distribute aid, resources, advice and information to the members.
The NGO is comprised of a small permanent staff, and its work is done primarily by volunteers and interns. We aim to incorproate as many of the people we help as possible into the everyday working of the organisation. The NGO is accountable both to a Board of Directors and, importantly, to the committees that represent the communities with which the NGO works. The organisation is dedicated to ensuring that its work addresses the needs of the communities, and that it does so in an efficient, effective way.
